Bienvenue! Welcome! שָׁלוֹם Benvenuti! مرحبا ¡Bienvenidos! Willkommen! Witajcie! Karibuni!
The Community of Missionaries of Africa – the White Fathers – welcomes you to the place dedicated to Saint Anne in the Old City of Jerusalem.
You are invited to pray in the Romanesque Basilica, built by Crusaders in the 12th century on the site where Saints Anne and Joachim, parents of the Blessed Virgin Mary, lived according to tradition. Here too, according to the 2nd century Proto-Evangelium of St. James, Mary was born.
Next to the Basilica is the historic Bethesda, the pool mentioned in the Gospel of Saint John (ch. 5), where the Lord Jesus healed a paralytic who had been sick for 38 years. The miracle of healing made this place very important for our Christian faith. Jesus today comes to everyone who needs healing with the same question: “Do you want to be healed?” The answer belongs to each of us.
Enjoy this virtual visit! We are waiting for you here, and may God bless you!
